DESCRIPTION:Not MY Kid: Understanding Youth Substance Use Risks & Prevention \n🗓️ Monday\, November 3\, 2025 \n🕕 6:00–8:00 PM \n📍 Lincoln High School Main Gym \nREGISTER HERE \nJoin us for a Parent and Caregiver Workshop focused on helping families better understand youth substance use risks and prevention strategies. This biannual event will cover communication techniques\, youth development\, and the latest drug trends\, empowering parents and caregivers to strengthen family relationships and have meaningful conversations about substance use. \nFeatured Speakers: \n\nAngela Kennecke – Founder of Emily’s Hope\, sharing Emily’s story\nSRO Spencer Kommes – Minnehaha County Sheriff’s Office\n\nPanelists: \n\nAngela Kennecke\nSRO Spencer Kommes\nTiffany Kashas\, MAIS\, LAC\, CPS – Licensed Addiction Counselor and Certified Prevention Specialist\nArtica Franklin – Through Young Voices at LSS; young adult with a parent who struggled with substance use disorder\n\nThe evening will conclude with a panel discussion and Q&A with prevention and recovery experts and voices with lived experience. \nHosted by the Youth Prevention Coalition\, this workshop addresses multiple substances\, including alcohol\, tobacco\, marijuana\, methamphetamines\, fentanyl\, and other illicit drugs. \nThis event is free and open to all parents\, caregivers\, and community members. \nCLICK HERE TO REGISTER \n \nThis event is supported by the Office of National Drug Control Policy (ONDCP) and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) as part of a financial assistance award funded by ONDCP.
